New Conservative Party Seeks Return
To America’s Christian Roots
BLAIRSVILLE, GA – The founding of the Christian Conservative Party, a new political organization dedicated to the return of the United States to its foundational roots and core values, was announced here today by its founder and self-appointed chairman, Chuck Cooper.
Citing the need for millions of Christian Conservatives to be recognized and respected as representing mainstream American values, Cooper expressed concern that “no existing party appears willing to include us and our undying support of the ideals, beliefs, principles, and core values of our Founding Fathers. The Republican Party,” he said, “has abandoned us and continues to become more and more liberalized to the point there isn’t much difference between the Donkeys and the Elephants on important social issues.
“We will provide disillusioned voters of all parties the opportunity to join with us to return our federal government to “We the People” instead of the “You the Boss!” dictator it has become,” he continued. “Our platform,” Cooper added, “is pretty simple: Christian principles guided by the Bible, the Ten Commandments, the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights and the U.S. Constitution. “We Christian Conservatives have allowed our leaders to ignore the rule of law stipulated in our founding documents. It’s time to push back hard,” he said.
Cooper also strongly hinted that he may seek the White House in 2016 “to help Christian Conservatives take back our country from those who are intent on taking us down with socialistic policies which have proven over and over again that they don’t work.”
He laughed at the suggestion that he was a “modern-day Moses” guiding American Christians to the Promised Land! “First, I’m no Moses. I don’t have a beard, I don’t use a walking stick, at least not yet, and I do not claim to be a God-appointed ‘Comeback Kid!’ Secondly, we true believers understand that Heaven is our Promised Land,” he said.
Cooper said he would soon release a series of Christian Conservative Value Papers to explain the new party’s “common sense solutions to resurrect our once great, God-inspired nation. Americans need to recognize that many current policies need changed if we are to prevent our country from becoming a ‘banana republic,” he stated. "The current Administration promised hope and fundamental change when it was elected! Wow, did things ever change! So much change that our Founders must be crying ‘foul” and that most of us have lost hope for the future of our once-great country.
“We feel that we have been enslaved by liberalism and its ‘we know what’s best for you’ dictators,” he explained. “Liberals are fervently trying to take God out of our culture; they are quickly taking over our public schools; they are forcing us to re-distribute our wealth to folks who refuse to take personal responsibility, they are attempting to bully Americans into subjects of the state rather than recognizing them as citizens with God-given rights,” he said. “We ain’t buying it anymore! Game on!”
The “new-to-politics” potential Presidential candidate said that he has not contacted any other political groups to discuss their possible support. “If we need to actively seek support from other groups, then we are barking up the tree politically!” he said. “Our goal is clear and we don’t intend to contaminate it by compromising our principles to get “approval” from any other groups. Compromise is not necessarily a virtue,” he reminded. Cooper said he would certainly welcome contacts from all political entities to discover mutual guiding principles but he wasn’t hopeful any mergers would result.
When asked if his new party would “interfere” with Republican efforts to win the White House in 2016, Cooper grew extremely quiet and introspective before answering. Slowly choosing his words carefully, he said: “Establishment Republicans have cautiously, but continually, begun moving to the center politically, particularly on social issues. In so doing, it has alienated many true conservatives who strongly believe in smaller government, personal responsibility, free enterprise and a growing economy which produces real jobs rather than government-generated jobs.
“Socially, most of us Christian Conservatives believe in the sanctity of life and the Biblical definition of the sanctity of marriage,” he claims. “We cannot and will not blindly vote for a Republican candidate just because he or she is a Republican. We will, however, offer our votes to true conservative candidates regardless of their political party,” he said.
Asked his take on the Tea Party groups and their political candidates, Cooper responded: “Let me simply say this: my favorite beverage is sweet tea!” But,he said the high-powered energy of Tea Party folks that resulted in a voter revolt in 2010 and won control of the House of Representatives has lost its vigor. “All Conservatives” he said, “need a steady diet of energy bars and drinks if we are to prevail.”
In closing, Cooper outlined the new Party’s step-by-step game plan:
1. First is to inform and convince Christian Conservatives about how important it is to win the current battle between conservatives and progressives over the direction this country will take. “The 2014 and 2016 elections will determine our country’s future,” he claims.
2. Second is to energize “Conservative Christians” enough so they will actually vote. “As a group, evangelical Christians have a very poor voting record,” he said, pointing to the 2008 general election. He said there are some 30 million self-described evangelicals in this country. Only 15 million of them were registered to vote and only about 7 million actually cast votes. Of those, just over half voted for the Republican candidate. Liberals won by a great margin of the popular vote. “We can be an election-turning voting bloc,” he speculated, “but if we don’t get off our duffs and actually vote our principles, all is lost for our country.”
3. Third is to convince Conservative Christians to become actively engaged in the political process. “We need strong, patriotic Bible-believing, Bible-living, God-fearing folks across the country to volunteer their efforts at getting out the vote for candidates they can support ideologically,” he said. “That includes folks willing to put it on the line for Christ by running for office and being bold in support of Christian principles and beliefs,” he continued.
In concluding, Cooper said: “We need many more believers to be outspoken politically rather than sitting in their cozy recliners and bailing out to the “God is in control so why bother to vote” crowd. To those I say, I sure am thankful the Disciples didn’t feel or act that way! They were advocates for Christ, just like Jesus commanded them. Just like Jesus commands all of us to be.”
